In this tribute
to a visionary artist I took a risk and in using a variety of
gemstones, not knowing if the final image would even be
recognizable.
Balancing the
range of tones to create a cohesive result proved difficult. The
color values of the deep green hue of Amazonite (top left) and
the dark tones of the Snowflake Obsidian (top right) had to be
delicately arranged to maintain the integrity of the image.
His famous right
ear was reproduced by a uniquely beautiful gemstone (Fossil),
his eyes with Dalmatian Jasper, the collar with Unakite and the
mouth with African Turquoise. |
